Senior Resource Connection is taking all precautions to protect the clients that we serve and our employees during the Coronavirus crisis. We have taken steps in our home delivered meals programs to limit face-to-face contact, while still delivering meals to home-bound seniors. Our Visiting Home Care department has trained nurses and STNAs that use universal precautions and are monitoring the health of the senior population that we serve. We have no plans to discontinue our services as they are critical to seniors in the community, now more than ever. The school closures will have a significant impact on our employees with young children, many of whom are single parents. We have numerous clients and funders that are either requesting or requiring that move from fresh, hot home delivered meals to frozen or shelf stable meals to deliver to clients (this limits the daily contact). Like many other non-profits and small business that are affected by this, we had no way to plan for this situation and did not budget for this. The closures and restrictions, while necessary for public health and safety, put us in a difficult situation financially. We will continue to provide our services to the seniors in our community, but we could use financial support from the community to help us through the crisis. We will continue to provide home delivered meals, home health care, and many other services to the community for as long as we are able. We have been here since 1956 and truly believe in our mission to serve an often overlooked population with care and compassion.
