Senior Dining Centers
Join us for
a wonderful meal and terrific friendship opportunities. Located in
Montgomery, Greene and Miami Counties.
The 30 Senior Dining Centers within
Montgomery County, serve hot, nutritious "home style" lunch meals to
individuals 60 years of age and over. The Senior Dining Center in your
neighborhood is attended by people like you, folks who enjoy going out for
a low-cost but healthful and tasty lunch and who enjoy the company of
their neighbors.
At the Dining Centers you can meet
new people, attend picnics, and enjoy holiday celebrations. Exercise
classes and entertainment are available at select Dining Centers. The
Senior Dining Centers are brought to you by The Senior Resource Connection
and are funded through the Area Agency on Aging Title III program, United
Way and customer contributions. Many groups contribute as host facilities
and special funders.
You also have the opportunity to
learn more about maintaining your health and nutrition and about resources
available to seniors in our community. Screening tests are brought
directly to various Dining Centers throughout the year.
What Is the food like?
Hot, nutritious and delicious meals are served for both
regular and diabetic needs. Milk and bread accompany every meal.
How much does it cost?
Customers contribute according to their abilities.
A contribution of $2.00 is suggested. Friends and family are
welcome, but everyone under age 60 (except spouses) must pay $4.65 for
their meals. Ask about our volunteer program for those under 60
years of age and needing a donation-meal only.
How do I start?
You can order
your lunch in advance while at your Dining Center, or you can call the
number listed for the Dining Center you wish to attend by 12:30 p.m. the
day before you go.
What if I don't drive?
In Montgomery
County the majority of dining centers are located in the city of Dayton
and are on public transportation routes. For specific information
regarding transportation in all counties, please call the individual
dining center.
What if I can't get out?
Most people
prefer to socialize among their peers whenever they can, but sometimes
that's impossible. People who are homebound (unable to cook or shop
for themselves) and have no source of meal preparation may be eligible to
receive Meals-On-Wheels. Call the Senior Resource Connection
Meals-On-Wheels at 937-228-FOOD (3663) or toll free at 1-888-580-3663.

Major television
and radio stations will announce Senior Resource Connection Dining Center
closings.

you!
The Senior
Resource Connection operates dining centers in Montgomery, Greene and
Miami counties. The sites are located in senior centers, churces,
community cebters and senior housing facilities. Every one age 60 or
older is invited and welcome to attend. And remember,
transportation, though limited in scope, can be provided to most centers.
