Foster
Grandparent Program
Border babies and troubled teens alike respond to the
care, guidance and friendship Foster Grandparents know how to give. Personal
support is at the heart of the program. As a Foster Grandparent, you may
assist children who have been abused and neglected, mentor troubled
teenagers and young mothers, cuddle premature infants or care for children
with physical disabilities. The needs--and demands--are great. But so are
the rewards. Be part of a nationally recognized intergenerational program
linking seniors with special needs children.
To be a Foster Grandparent you must be at least 60
years old, meet income requirements and be willing to serve 20 hours a week.
You'll receive a tax-free stipend, 40-hours of pre-service orientation and
on-going monthly training. You will also receive reimbursement for
transportation, meals while on duty, an annual physical examination and
supplemental accident and liability insurance during your service.
